SENSwitcher: Still great, still free and still available

Senswitcher

I designed my first program for switch users back in 1999 / 2000. I had attended a meeting where we discussed the possibility of creating ‘PMLD’ software that could run online and delivered through the Northern Grid for Learning web site. The result was SENSwitcher. 140 activities that could be operated with a switch, touch-screen or pointing device that could be configured to allow for specific student colour preferences, tracking speeds and more.

The program has been incredibly successful and I would argue led the way for programs such as Big Bang and others. I wrote a short teaching and assessment document to use alongside the program and I still see this being used in schools as the basis of their own assessment systems. Despite the huge advances in technology since those early days, Senswitcher still works fine through a browser on the PC and Mac. It’s still free… why not take a look?

Ian, I am an occupational therapist from the US. We have used SenSwitcher for many years with our single switch users. It is an excellent program. We are unable to use it at this time. Is there a link or a way to download it? Any information would be appreciated.

I do plan to put the files online on my web site very soon.

So sad because in the school system you can’t download things to the computer we love Senswitcher great for children with visual impairments. Please bring it back

I too am having the same problem. I wasn’t sure if it had to do with my firewall at school…but it has the same message that Lynne stated.

    Hi!
I tried too. We are in Canada and have used it for years. Our old link or the one above do not seem to be working.
