Ian has spent much of the last 10 years researching how children with severe and complex needs interact with technology. In 2011, while at Inclusive Technology, he wrote the Switch Progression Road Map which is now used by hundreds of schools around the world as a guide to assessing and teaching switching skills.
In 2013, Ian will publish Touch Skills Progression, a comprehensive teaching and assessment guide covering touch technology such as touch screens, interactive whiteboards, interactive plasma screens and 'tablet' devices such as ipads. The Touch Skills Progression booklet covers the full range of skills from early intentional touching (cause and effect) through to making meaningful choices by selecting from a range of on-screen options. Detailed level descriptors and small steps are carefully explained and illustrated through case study and classroom examples using common software that you'll have on your school network. |
